Genoa stun Juventus 2-0 in Serie A upset

Juventus suffered their third defeat of the season as Genoa secured a clinical home victory at Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris.
Genoa produced a clinical performance to defeat Juventus 2-0 on Matchday 9 of Serie A. The result marks a third league loss for the Old Lady, who now sit eighth in the standings, trailing leaders Inter and Lazio by 11 points.
A clinical display from the hosts
The hosts took control early when Kingsley Ehizibue found the net in the 12th minute following a cutback from Tommaso Baldanzi. Just over a quarter-hour later, the roles reversed as Baldanzi doubled the lead by finishing a swift counter-attack with a calm tap-in.
Juventus struggled to find a breakthrough against a disciplined Genoa defense. Goalkeeper Justin Bijlow was instrumental in the victory, earning an 8.2 rating for his efforts, which included four saves and a series of accurate long balls that kept the visitors under constant pressure.
Despite generating a higher expected goals tally than their opponents, Juventus could not convert their chances. The visitors came closest in the final minutes when a Teun Koopmeiners free-kick struck the crossbar, but Genoa successfully defended their lead to end a six-match winless run against the Bianconeri.
