Spanish Copa del Rey matches postponed following tragic train crash

The Spanish Football Federation has suspended 24 Copa del Rey matches after a fatal train accident in the Toledo region.
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has officially postponed 24 Copa del Rey fixtures scheduled for Wednesday following a devastating train collision in the Toledo province. At least 64 people have lost their lives in the tragedy, with rescue operations ongoing to assist those injured.
A show of solidarity
"The great Spanish football family remains united in grief at the tragedy, offering its support to the authorities."
The RFEF announced that all cup matches for the day were cancelled as a sign of respect. Major clubs including Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid have issued statements expressing their condolences to the families of the victims. Real Madrid players observed a moment of silence during training and their Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich.
While Wednesday’s schedule was cleared, the federation has already begun rescheduling the affected games. The RFEF confirmed that the matches will be played across seven different dates, concluding on November 13. Top-flight sides such as Real Betis, Valencia, and Celta Vigo are among those impacted by the changes.
