Carabao Cup Quarter-Final Draw: Liverpool to Face Bournemouth as Chelsea Exit

The Carabao Cup last-eight ties are confirmed following Liverpool's penalty shootout victory over Chelsea at Anfield.
The quarter-final matchups for the Carabao Cup have been officially determined after Liverpool secured their place in the next round by knocking out Chelsea. In a dramatic evening at Anfield, the hosts triumphed in a penalty shootout after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time. The decisive moment came in sudden death when Wesley Fofana sent his penalty high into the stands, ending the London club's hopes of winning the trophy for the first time since 2015.
Despite the elimination, Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso appeared remarkably calm about the result. The Blues boss, whose side recently suffered a home defeat to Tottenham, suggested that the tournament was not a priority for his squad this season.
"It’s probably the least important competition for us in the year, so we need to move on."

Alonso noted that while the outcome was disappointing, he saw improvements in his team's performance. He urged his players to shift their focus immediately to their upcoming Premier League fixture this Saturday.
The Road to the Quarter-Finals
Liverpool’s reward for their victory is a home tie against Bournemouth. The Cherries reached this stage after a convincing 3-0 win over Aston Villa. Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola admitted that facing his former club was a scenario he had hoped to avoid, describing them as the "only team I didn't want" to draw at this stage.
Elsewhere in the draw, League One side Bradford City will host Manchester City. The Premier League giants advanced after their own penalty shootout victory against Brighton, while Bradford secured their spot with a 2-0 win over Peterborough. Fleetwood Town, who caused a major shock by eliminating Premier League champions Arsenal, will host either Everton or Newcastle United.
The final quarter-final fixture features an all-Premier League clash between Crystal Palace and Sunderland. Palace progressed thanks to an Eddie Nketiah goal against Fulham, while Sunderland earned their spot by defeating Brentford 3-2. The quarter-final matches are scheduled to take place during the week starting December 14.
