Manuel Neuer sidelined for two months with foot injury

Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer faces a two-month recovery period after suffering a partial tendon tear in his right foot against Mainz 05.
Bayern Munich has confirmed that captain Manuel Neuer will be unavailable for two months following a foot injury sustained during Saturday's 2-1 victory over FSV Mainz 05. The goalkeeper was forced to leave the pitch before halftime after experiencing pain during a jumping motion.
A recurring issue for the Bayern captain
Sporting director Max Eberl confirmed that the injury affects the same right foot that previously caused Neuer to miss five competitive matches earlier this year. The 39-year-old was substituted after a chaotic 40th-minute sequence, with backup goalkeeper Jonas Urbig stepping in to finish the match.
"The problem was in his right foot again."

This marks the fourth time in 2026 that Neuer has been forced off due to injury during Bundesliga play, raising questions regarding his physical durability as he approaches his 40th birthday. While he is expected to be sidelined for the near future, the club remains supported by the capable Jonas Urbig, who is widely expected to transition into the starting role next summer.
