Turkish FA hands down bans to 147 officials over betting

The Turkish Football Federation has suspended 147 club officials for 45 days following an investigation into betting rule violations.
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has taken significant disciplinary action against 147 club officials, issuing each a 45-day ban due to confirmed breaches of betting regulations. The sanctions follow a comprehensive investigation that initially scrutinized 448 individuals suspected of placing bets while holding official positions.
A crackdown on integrity
The investigation focused on personnel who have served at clubs within the top two tiers of Turkish football over the past five years. While 147 individuals were found to have violated the rules, the TFF determined there was insufficient evidence to proceed against the remaining 301 people who were initially under review.
Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan is among those currently serving the 45-day suspension. Regulations set by the TFF, alongside international standards from FIFA and UEFA, strictly prohibit players, coaches, and club officials from engaging in any betting activities. This development is part of a broader effort by Turkish authorities to eliminate betting-related misconduct, following a major disciplinary sweep in November 2025 that impacted over 1,300 players and referees.
