Teemu Pukki to retire from professional football at 36

Finland's all-time top scorer and Norwich City legend Teemu Pukki confirms he will hang up his boots following the conclusion of the current season.
Finnish striker Teemu Pukki has confirmed his decision to retire from professional football at the age of 36. The forward, who currently plays for HJK Helsinki in his home country, will officially end his playing career after the Veikkausliiga season concludes on November 8.
Pukki leaves behind a storied legacy, particularly as Finland’s all-time leading goalscorer with 43 goals in 133 appearances. His career spanned several top leagues, including spells with Schalke, Brondby, Minnesota United, and Celtic, where he scored nine goals in 38 games.
A Norwich City legend
The striker is best remembered for his transformative five-year stint at Norwich City. Between 2018 and 2023, he netted 88 goals in 210 appearances, becoming a fan favorite and helping the club secure two promotions to the Premier League. His partnership with Emi Buendia was famously described as "magical" by former manager Daniel Farke.
"I've gained a lot more from football than I ever dreamed of when I was a little boy."

Reflecting on his journey, Pukki expressed deep gratitude for his experiences in the sport. While he stepped away from international duty last year, his impact on the game remains significant, especially in Norfolk where he rose to become the club's fourth-highest all-time goalscorer.
