Cristiano Ronaldo hit with 30-day ban following national team walkout

The Portuguese FA has suspended Cristiano Ronaldo for 30 days and fined him after he left the national team camp in September.
The Portuguese Football Federation has officially handed Cristiano Ronaldo a 30-day suspension following his decision to leave the national team's training camp last month. The 41-year-old forward, who currently plays for Al-Nassr, was also issued a fine of 255 euros.
The disciplinary action stems from an internal conflict during the September international break. After remaining an unused substitute in a match against Norway, Ronaldo departed the camp ahead of a fixture against Denmark. He publicly accused new head coach Jorge Jesus of failing to keep his word regarding his role in the squad.
A promise of a return
"I can promise all my fans, and especially all Portuguese people, that we will have one or more farewell matches. There will be time for that."

Ronaldo had previously requested that the federation not show him leniency regarding the incident. While the suspension was confirmed by the disciplinary council on Monday, it remains unclear if the ban will include the upcoming Nations League match against Denmark on November 14. Federation president Pedro Proenca has expressed a desire for the veteran to return once the situation is resolved.
