Cristiano Ronaldo faces lengthy Portugal ban after Nations League walkout

The veteran forward could be sidelined for up to six months following a heated dispute with head coach Jorge Jesus.
Cristiano Ronaldo is facing a significant suspension from the Portugal national team. This follows his abrupt departure from the squad's camp during the Nations League window. The veteran forward reportedly had a heated disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus regarding his minutes on the pitch.
According to media reports, the Portuguese Football Federation's regulations have already triggered an automatic suspension. A disciplinary council is set to determine the final duration of the ban, which could range from one to six months. If the penalty exceeds thirty days, the captain will miss upcoming matches against Denmark and Wales next month.
The 41-year-old released a lengthy statement acknowledging his mistake but citing a "breach of trust" with the manager. He admitted that as team captain, his actions carry more weight and that he expects to face the consequences of his decision to leave the group.
"The consequence of this act of mine must be assessed and punished by the Portuguese Football Federation."

Return to Club Football
While his international future hangs in the balance, Ronaldo has returned to Saudi Arabia. He is expected to feature for Al Nassr in their upcoming league match against Al Diriyah. Images from training show the striker with a fresh haircut, looking focused on reaching his milestone of 1,000 career goals.
Ronaldo currently has 979 goals across his career and 146 for his country since his debut. Despite the drama in the national team setup, he remains a key figure for his club, having scored three times in seven league appearances this season. Coach Jorge Jesus briefly addressed the situation, stating he is focused on his ongoing work with the federation.
"I’m going to the federation to work, think about the team."
