Chelsea captain Reece James ruled out for three months following knee surgery

Chelsea skipper Reece James faces a three-month spell on the sidelines after undergoing successful surgery on a knee injury sustained in training.
Chelsea Football Club has confirmed that captain Reece James is expected to be out of action for approximately three months. The 26-year-old right-back underwent a successful minor procedure on his knee after picking up the injury during a training session last Friday.
A major defensive setback
The England international will be unavailable until 2027, missing a crucial run of fixtures including high-profile clashes against Tottenham, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Manchester City. This latest medical issue marks another difficult chapter for James, who has battled persistent injury problems throughout his professional career.
Manager Xabi Alonso must now adjust his tactical plans while the defender focuses on his recovery. In his absence, Alonso may look to utilize Pedro Neto in the right-wingback position, a role he recently filled during the team's 5-1 victory over Bournemouth.
The Blues currently sit sixth in the Premier League table. While the team has displayed impressive attacking form as the third-highest scorers in the league, their defensive record remains a concern, having conceded in each of their last 22 matches.
