PSG End Barcelona's Winning Streak in Six-Goal Champions League Thriller

Paris Saint-Germain handed Hansi Flick his first defeat of the season with a 4-2 victory at the Parc des Princes.
Paris Saint-Germain asserted their dominance as European champions on Tuesday night, securing a 4-2 victory over Barcelona at the Parc des Princes. The result marks the first defeat of the season for Hansi Flick’s side, halting an 11-game winning streak that had made the Catalans look invincible heading into the autumn.
Désiré Doué opened the scoring for the hosts in the 37th minute, capitalizing on a turnover from Lamine Yamal. Despite the pressure, Barcelona found moments of brilliance, particularly through young defender Xavi Espart. Espart neutralized Khvicha Kvaratskhelia before surging forward to score a stunning equalizer, earning high praise from his manager after the final whistle.
Injury Woes and Clásico Rotations
The match was heavily influenced by Barcelona’s mounting injury list and the looming Clásico. With Christensen, Koundé, and Eric unavailable, Flick was forced into a makeshift defense. The German coach also opted to start Rodri on the bench to protect him, a move that left the Catalans struggling to play out from the back against PSG’s intense pressing.
"It was a fantastic game from both teams. PSG showed they are better than us."
Hansi Flick
The game took a physical toll on both squads. Barcelona lost Dani Olmo to a knock, while PSG saw Ousmane Dembélé, Marquinhos, and Kvaratskhelia all forced off with injuries. After Lucas Hernández headed PSG back in front, Lamine Yamal responded with a sensational individual goal to level the score at 2-2 with ten minutes remaining.
However, the parity was short-lived. Vitinha restored the lead almost immediately with a magnificent strike, and Fabián added a fourth late on to punish a lapse in the Barça defense. Luis Enrique, while celebrating the win, remained humble about his team's status.
"We are not above the rest; it would be the first trap if we think we are the best."
Luis Enrique
Barcelona must now regroup quickly. Despite the loss, Raphinha insisted the team remains confident heading into their upcoming clash with Real Madrid, noting that a defeat was bound to happen eventually.
