Marseille and Lille club shops looted during French civil unrest

Ligue 1 clubs Marseille and Lille have been forced to close their official stores following significant damage caused during recent protests in France.
French football clubs Marseille and Lille have reported severe damage to their retail outlets following a weekend of civil unrest across the country. The demonstrations, which were primarily focused on rising living costs and issues within the education system, saw over half a million people take to the streets.
While the majority of protests remained peaceful, small groups engaged in criminal activity, including arson and looting, across cities such as Paris, Lyon, and Marseille. The Marseille prosecutor's office confirmed that 101 individuals, including 27 minors, were taken into custody in connection with the incidents.
Club operations disrupted
Marseille announced that their official store on the famous La Canebière avenue suffered significant damage and will remain closed for the time being. Similarly, Lille reported that their city center shop was targeted by looters, leaving the facility with extensive destruction that will keep it shuttered until further notice.
In a statement, Lille expressed their gratitude to the community members who reached out during the crisis. The club noted the efforts of both staff and members of the public who provided support and assistance during the chaotic events.
