Former Manchester United striker reveals battle with snus addiction

Ex-striker Fraizer Campbell has shared his personal struggle with snus dependency during and after his professional playing career.
Former Manchester United and Crystal Palace forward Fraizer Campbell has spoken candidly about his reliance on snus throughout his time as a professional footballer. The 38-year-old, who retired in 2022 after 446 career appearances, noted that the smokeless tobacco product became a significant part of his routine during his years at Selhurst Park.

"I felt relaxed, and it just chilled me out more than anything."

While Campbell used the product to manage the high-stress environment of professional sports, he avoided it on matchdays to maintain his focus, fearing it would make him too lethargic to compete. He admitted that his dependency deepened significantly after he hung up his boots, as he had more free time to consume the substance.
"Well, yeah. I definitely was addicted."

The former striker, who confirmed he is now clean, is not the only player to have faced this issue. The prevalence of snus has been a growing topic within the sport, with former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder Danny Murphy also previously acknowledging his own struggle with the product after his retirement.
