Flamengo survive goalless draw against Estudiantes

Flamengo managed to escape La Plata with a draw after a poor performance, relying on goalkeeper Rossi to keep the match scoreless.
Flamengo struggled to find their rhythm in their away clash against Estudiantes de La Plata, ultimately settling for a 0-0 draw. The Brazilian side produced one of their most lackluster displays of the season, showing visible nervousness and failing to contain their opponents, who created several high-quality scoring opportunities throughout the night.
Rossi saves the day
Goalkeeper Rossi emerged as the standout performer for the visitors, delivering a series of crucial saves to keep the scoreline level. He was particularly active early on, denying a powerful low strike from Rodriguez and remaining a reliable presence under pressure as his teammates repeatedly surrendered possession in dangerous areas.
While Estudiantes controlled the flow of the game, Flamengo’s attacking efforts were sporadic and failed to trouble Muslera. The hosts had the best chance of the second half when Alex Sandro was forced to clear a strike from Nunez almost off the goal line. Lucas Paqueta also avoided a red card after a collision with Piovi, with the referee opting only for a yellow following a VAR review.
With the tie still balanced, the two teams will head to the Maracanã next week to determine who advances. Flamengo will need a significant improvement in composure and ball retention to overcome an Estudiantes side that proved they are more than capable of causing an upset.
