Barcelona Face Galatasaray Test Without Raphinha as Victor Osimhen Returns

Barcelona have arrived in Istanbul for their highly anticipated Champions League fixture against Galatasaray, but Hansi Flick’s squad will be missing some significant firepower. The Catalan club confirmed that both Raphinha and Frenkie de Jong have remained in Spain to continue their respective injury recovery programs. Flick has largely stuck with the same group of players that recently secured a dominant victory over Getafe.

While the visitors are shorthanded in midfield and attack, the hosts have received a major boost. Galatasaray assistant coach Ismael Gomez has confirmed that star striker Victor Osimhen is fully fit and available to start. The Nigerian forward’s return is seen as a tactical advantage for the Turkish champions, who hope to exploit the spaces left by Barcelona’s aggressive high defensive line.

"He is ready to play, and for us, he is a player on a completely different level."

Tactical Battle in Istanbul

The Turkish side is looking for redemption following a heavy 0-4 domestic loss to Trabzonspor. Gomez admitted that facing the current Barcelona side is a daunting task, even at home, describing the experience as painful but necessary. Despite the challenge, the Galatasaray coaching staff believes their vertical style of play can cause problems for the Spanish giants, whom they consider the favorites to win the entire competition.

"Playing against Barcelona is like going to the dentist: you know it's going to hurt."

The atmosphere at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium is expected to be electric, and the support for the visitors will also have an international flavor. According to media reports, Barcelona fan clubs from Iraq have organized a massive trip to Istanbul, securing 120 tickets for the match. These supporters have taken advantage of the relatively short flight and easier entry requirements into Turkey compared to the logistical difficulties of traveling to Spain.
