Arsène Wenger Weighs Potential FIFA Presidential Bid

Former Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger is reportedly nearing a decision on whether to challenge Gianni Infantino for the FIFA presidency.
Arsène Wenger, the current Chief of Global Football Development, is reportedly moving closer to launching a campaign for the FIFA presidency. While the 77-year-old has previously expressed hesitation, pressure from various figures within the sport has led him to reconsider his position. A final decision is expected to be announced by the middle of next week.
A potential shift in leadership
The move comes as opposition builds against incumbent Gianni Infantino, who is seeking re-election despite facing recent controversies. Wenger is viewed by many as a strong alternative candidate, particularly due to his lack of a UEFA background and his significant influence across Africa and Asia. Several FIFA executives have reportedly encouraged him to enter the race.
If Wenger proceeds with a candidacy, his age suggests he would only serve a single term in the role. The election is set to take place on March 18 in Rabat, Morocco. He is not the only challenger, as Kozo Tashima, the honorary president of the Japan Football Association, has already confirmed his intention to run against Infantino.
