Arsenal Eye £58m Antonio Nusa Ahead of High-Stakes Liverpool Encounter

Arsenal Eye £58m Antonio Nusa Ahead of High-Stakes Liverpool Encounter

Arsenal are reportedly pursuing RB Leipzig's Antonio Nusa while dealing with a shock cup exit and a suspension for wonderkid Max Dowman.

Arsenal are looking to strengthen their squad with the potential signing of Antonio Nusa as they prepare for a difficult away game against Liverpool. The North London club is reportedly showing serious interest in the RB Leipzig winger, who is valued at approximately £58 million. According to media reports, the Gunners believe they are in a strong position to secure the 21-year-old, though they may face competition from Roma.

The interest in Nusa comes at a time when Arsenal are looking to bounce back from a disappointing exit in the Carabao Cup. The reigning Premier League champions were recently knocked out on penalties by League Two side Fleetwood Town. To make matters worse, 16-year-old winger Max Dowman will be unavailable for the Liverpool match after his red card appeal was unsuccessful. Dowman was sent off for retaliation during the cup defeat.

"We have to be protective of him as he is 16 but also very straight with him."

Mikel Arteta

Arteta admitted that his own angry reaction during the Fleetwood match was born out of frustration, especially since the club had specifically discussed emotional control with Dowman following a similar incident while on international duty with England. Despite the disciplinary setback, the club is moving forward with transfer plans. Nusa has already recorded 10 goal contributions in 12 games this season, earning high praise from Manchester City's Erling Haaland.

"He's something extraordinary. He's a great talent and he simply has to keep going."

Striker Struggles and January Plans

While the club looks at new wingers, questions are being raised about the current forward line. Pundit Micah Richards has suggested that Arsenal should consider replacing Viktor Gyokeres in the upcoming January window. The Swedish striker has struggled for form, scoring only once in 11 appearances this season. Richards noted that Gyokeres appears to have lost confidence and is no longer performing the off-the-ball work that initially made him a success at the Emirates.

As Arsenal prepare for the trip to Anfield, the pressure is on to maintain their domestic dominance. With key players like Leandro Trossard recently missing and the team needing more clinical finishing, the potential arrival of a talent like Nusa could provide the spark required to keep their title defense on track.
