Former striker Andy Carroll has received backing after publicly identifying the man who sexually assaulted him in 2021.
Former Newcastle and Liverpool forward Andy Carroll has garnered significant support after revealing details of a 2021 sexual assault in his recently published autobiography. The footballer confirmed that the perpetrator was Kevin Adams, a former dance coach who was convicted of the offense at Chelmsford Crown Court in 2023.
Daughter of perpetrator speaks out
The daughter of the convicted man, 21-year-old Avia, has publicly praised Carroll for his courage in naming her father. Having had minimal contact with him since 2011, she expressed her condemnation of his actions.
"I feel really bad for him. I just think my dad is a monster."

Carroll detailed the traumatic incident, which occurred after he invited Adams to his home to watch a boxing match. The striker recounted waking up to the assault, taking immediate action to remove the man from his house, and alerting the police. He shared his story with the hope of providing comfort and encouragement to other survivors of sexual violence.
"As far as naming him, he’s done something terrible to you so name him. If I was in that position I’d do the same."
